DOF Group, a Norwegian offshore supply vessel company, has recently announced its acquisition of Maersk Supply Service (MSS) in a deal valued at $1.11 billion, combining to form a prominent offshore service provider under the DOF Group brand. This merger will significantly expand DOF’s fleet to 78 vessels, augmenting its offshore services across various continents within the offshore energy industry. The consolidated company is poised to become one of the largest oil services entities listed on the Oslo Stock Exchange, boasting a combined market cap of around $2.3 billion.
CEO Mons Aase of DOF Group expressed the strategic importance of the transaction, citing a shared vision with A.P. Moller Holding. The amalgamation aims to fortify the global position of the united entity and enhance customer service through a vast fleet and industry-leading capabilities. Likewise, Christian Ingerslev, CEO of Maersk Supply Service, highlighted the commitment to safety and operational efficiency, stressing a focus on talent, modern fleet, and market reach to benefit customers across different sectors.
Prior to finalizing the acquisition, certain elements from MSS will be divested, including specific vessels and assets, with the exclusion of MSS operations in Brazil and the offshore wind installation business. The move signifies a pivotal shift in the offshore energy industry landscape, reflecting shared values and a strategic alliance between the two companies.
