Fincantieri has announced a major milestone in luxury maritime construction with a new order from Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd. (NCLH) to build an ultra-luxury cruise ship for Regent Seven Seas Cruises. Scheduled for delivery in 2033, this vessel will be the third in the prestigious Prestige Class, reinforcing the shipbuilder’s legacy of excellence and innovation in the cruise industry. The project represents a value between Euro 500 million to 1 Billion Euros.

A New Jewel in the Prestige-Class Crown at Fincantieri Shipyard in Italy

The new ship will be a sister vessel to the Seven Seas Prestige, currently under construction at Fincantieri’s Marghera shipyard and expected to debut in 2026. A second Prestige-Class ship is already slated for delivery in 2030, making the 2033 vessel the third in this elite series.

Key specifications include:

  • Gross tonnage: 77,000 tons
  • Length: 257 meters
  • Passenger capacity: 822 guests
  • Guest-to-space ratio: Among the highest in the industry

This ultra-luxury ship will embody timeless elegance, cutting-edge environmental technologies, and exceptional comfort, aligning with Regent’s reputation for offering “The World’s Most Luxurious Fleet”.

A Partnership Anchored in Trust

The collaboration between Fincantieri and NCLH is one of the most enduring in the cruise industry. To date, Fincantieri has delivered ten ships across NCLH’s brands—Norwegian Cruise Line, Oceania Cruises, and Regent Seven Seas Cruises. The current order book includes thirteen additional vessels, underscoring a shared vision for innovation and sustainable growth.

Pierroberto Folgiero, CEO of Fincantieri, emphasized the strategic importance of this partnership:

“This latest contract confirms the trust NCLH places in Fincantieri’s expertise to deliver innovative, sustainable, and exquisitely crafted ships that meet the evolving aspirations of the luxury cruise market”.

Jason Montague, Chief Luxury Officer at NCLH, echoed this sentiment:

“It reflects our confidence in the growing demand for Regent’s best-in-class offering and reaffirms our long-standing partnership with Fincantieri, one rooted in craftsmanship and shared pursuit of perfection”.

Sustainability Meets Sophistication

In line with global trends and regulatory shifts, the new Prestige-Class ship will integrate advanced environmental technologies, supporting NCLH’s commitment to sustainability. This includes innovations in energy efficiency, emissions reduction, and waste management—ensuring a luxurious yet responsible cruising experience.

Why This Matters for the Cruise Industry

This announcement signals:

  • Continued growth in the ultra-luxury cruise segment
  • Increased demand for spacious, eco-conscious vessels
  • A robust recovery and expansion strategy post-pandemic

As the cruise industry evolves, partnerships like that of Fincantieri and NCLH set the standard for excellence, sustainability, and guest satisfaction.

For travelers seeking the pinnacle of oceanic luxury, the future looks more opulent—and greener—than ever.
