Guangzhou Shipbuilding International (GSI) has secured a significant order to build four 10,800 CEU Pure Car and Truck Carriers (PCTCs) for HMM Co. Ltd., a leading South Korean shipping company. These next-generation vessels will be powered by MAN B&W 8S60ME-GI Eco-EGRBP main engines and MAN 8L28/32DF auxiliary GenSets, marking a significant step toward sustainable maritime propulsion.
The dual-fuel ME-GI engines, built by CSIC Diesel Engine Co. Ltd. (CSE) in China, will feature Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) technology to meet IMO Tier III NOx emission standards. These engines are LNG-fueled and methanol- and ammonia-ready, aligning with future fuel flexibility and decarbonization goals.
Each PCTC will also be equipped with three MAN 8L28/32DF GenSets, manufactured by CSSC Marine Power Zhenjiang Ltd. (CMP), ensuring efficient auxiliary power generation.
Upon delivery, the vessels will be chartered to Hyundai Glovis Co., Ltd., the logistics arm of the Hyundai Kia Automotive Group, further strengthening the group’s commitment to green shipping.
