Venture Global Launches First LNG Vessel, Venture Gator

U.S. liquefied natural gas (LNG) exporter Venture Global has launched its first LNG vessel, the Venture Gator, at the Samsung Heavy Industries shipyard in Geoji-si, South Korea. This marks the beginning of an ambitious rollout of nine LNG carriers over the next 24 months.The Venture Gator, the first of these nine ships, is designed to transport LNG from the U.S. to global partners in Europe and Asia, beginning in fall 2024. These carriers will be completed at three South Korean shipyards, with each vessel equipped with advanced environmental and efficiency technologies.Key features of the Venture Gator include:Capacity: 174,000 cubic meters.Hull Design: New hull design to enhance performance.Onboard Reliquefication: Re-liquefies gas that has boiled off during transit.Air-Lubrication Systems: Ejects air bubbles to reduce friction.Auxiliary Shaft Generator: Reduces the need for auxiliary generators.Exhaust Gas Recirculation Systems: Lowers methane emissions.Venture Global’s CEO, Mike Sabel, highlighted the company’s commitment to supporting President Biden’s initiative to increase LNG supply to Europe. “We are proud to launch the Venture Gator at SHI in Korea,” said Sabel. “With our growing fleet, we will enhance the security of natural gas supply by delivering low-cost LNG directly to allies worldwide.”This new fleet positions Venture Global to significantly impact the global LNG market, reinforcing the company’s role in providing reliable and efficient LNG transportation.
